The Guruvayur Temple is a HINDU temple dedicated to lord Krishna. A strict dress code exists for people who wish to enter the Guruvayur Temple which makes it different from any other temples. Men are to wear mundu around their waist, without any dress covering their chest. But it is allowed to cover the chest region with a small piece of cloth. Boys are allowed to wear shorts, but they are also prohibited from wearing a shirt. Girls and women are not allowed to wear any trousers like dresses or short skirts. Idukki
The word Idukki means ‘Narrow Gap’ in the local language which is Malayalam. It also means ‘Narrow Gorge’ It is Known for its hydroelectric projects. Idukki is also known as the spice garden of Kerala. You can witness a number of waterfalls and heartwarming greenery all around. The total area of Idukki is 4479 square kilometres. Kuttanad
The region is also known as the Rice Bowl of Kerala as rice farming is the major practice here. The region is served by four prime rivers, namely Pamba, Meenachil, Achankovil and Manimala. A few years back Kuttanad entered into the list of Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems. It’s said that before 100-150 years there were crocodiles in the water bodies of Kuttanad.
They used to attack people and children. Slowly motor boats came in Because of their noises crocodiles fled from the place. For entertainment purposes, people used to sing while they were busy farming. There were separate songs for sowing, reaping, removing weeds, rotating the wheel using feet etc. There was a time when such songs echoed across Kuttanad.
